Stela 9 Style: What Do You Wear To The Beach?

Us Stela 9 girls are a lucky bunch. When we're not jetting the world looking for one-of-a-kind pieces we're relaxing in our hometown of sunny LA. We have everything at our disposal here - the beach, mountains, desert, and city are just a step away. While Jess prefers to spend her days hiking LA's beautiful mountains and spending time in Palm Springs, I choose to bum around Venice beach. I can't get enough of the hippie beach life (and Abbot Kinney has some of the raddest stores around). So which do you prefer? The serene desert or funky beach life?

Stela 9 Summer Style Guide

Now that it is officially summer and you have most of your activities and events lined up you have to figure out what to wear. Here at Stela 9, we made a for what to wear with a few of our bags during your summer happenings.

When walking around town visiting farmer's markets and flea markets you want a bag that's practical, cute and not too heavy. Our Mini Pacaya provides you with the space for just the bare necessities you need for the afternoon. Wear a Brixton hat to keep the sun out of your eyes and a lovely Mara Hoffman maxi dress. Some flat gladiator sandals will keep your feet working as you walk through alleys of crafts or stroll along the boardwalk.

Ahhh, there is nothing like a festival. With the freedom to romp around and let yourself go wild you want a bag you don't have to worry about too much. The Stela 9 Ventura backpack is perfect for that. It will hold all of your festival needs and on your back it will stay out of the way as you dance. With a pair of overall shorts, some comfy Modern Vice booties for dancing, and plenty of gorgeous jewelry, you will be set to let loose.

These are a few of our favorite things:

It seems like these days everyone is on a budget of some sort and it can be difficult to stay up to date with the ever-changing trends of the fashion world. There are also those days when getting dressed is such a challenge. You look in your closet and see a motley collection of the same old, same old and feel it will be impossible to look chic in these old duds. Well, we took to one of our closets and pulled out some old and some new, fairly inexpensive pieces that are great go-tos this summer. There are some essentials most can probably dig out of their closet and the other pieces you can probably find at your local H&M.

These are a few of our favorites for day:
From left to right: last year Gypsy 05 dress from Planet Blue, bag from Guatemala (not Stela 9), Vintage Dress and Forever 21 necklace, H&M Eyelet Lace top, American Apparel Denim Circle Skirt, FP One Pacific Trails Pant, Brandy Melville Striped Gisele Crop Top, thrifted necklace above, H&M necklace.

For night, our faves get a little darker:
From left to right: Vintage Dress, Flea Market necklace, BLQMKT jacket, Stela 9 Pacaya Crossbody Bag, H&M leather skirt.
If you dig hard enough, you can probably find a couple sweet summer dresses, lace, a circle skirt, crop tops, and a few exciting going out numbers you haven't had the guts to wear in a while. So go on and conquer that closet and you might just find the treasures you've been looking for.

Astrological Musings, June 3-9

We have found ourselves once again in the month of the Gemini. Mercury is the ruling planet this month, taking hold of all signs and setting in motion the principles of communication, adaptability, mentality, rationality and reasoning. It allows for clarity, inspiring creativity and motivating career moves and success in all signs. Mercury specifically rules over the Gemini's of May and June, reflecting Gemini's vivacious, curious and inconstant nature. Continue reading for this week's Gemini horoscope.

GEMINI
May 21–June 20
Clever Mercury and captivating Venus each form a harmonious triangle (called a grand trine) this week with dreamer Neptune and planner Saturn in your work sectors, making it easier to put things together in your head. Consider how you can best maximize your talents and execute a detailed plan to fulfill your most meaningful ambitions. Think about combining creativity and realism in your career to improve your finances and strengthen your self-worth. Look at your current resources and your list of top wants and see if you can better align those with work methods that will enable you to reach an elusive goal. Be mindful of your words and actions, though, as both Mercury and Mars are sparring with other planets. Make sure not to divulge someone else’s business or get too aggressive at work. The new moon in Gemini gives you a full head of steam, but thinking and getting in touch with your truest desires are more effective than doing something you might have to fix later. Ponder where you want to go from here and let friends or group activities boost your enthusiasm.

For everyone it is a good month to get in touch with your deepest feelings, get ambitious and start making your dreams a reality. Maybe clean your home for a fresh open space that welcomes new ideas or start that project today that you have been putting off forever. What better day to begin than a Monday?

Summer Fashion Inspiration

Now that the unofficial first day of summer, Memorial Day, has passed we can get the ball rolling on perfecting our summer style. Summer is about freedom in fashion aka a look that is seemingly thrown together at the last minute. The Stela 9 girl wears her hair naturally, hanging in a loose braid or beach waves around her face. She is the embodiment of an Indian Summer, with a look that is perfectly carefree. Summer 2013 is all about leather, mismatched prints, overalls, stripes, midi and maxi skirts, pastels, neon, lace and crop tops. Here is a collection of looks and images that Stela 9 finds particularly inspiring to our personal summer style and our interpretation of the trends of the season.
