#OOTD

For those of you who aren't on the #hashtag or acronym bandwagon... here's what it means: Outfit Of The Day. But you knew that, right?
Since the weather has been freakishly hot in February compared to even summer standards, it's only logical I dress the part. I have my maxi dress and sunnies on, got my weekender packed with some light reading, my swimsuit and a light jacket in the event it gets "chilly." Who knows where this day will take me. All I know is I'm prepared. The weekend calls for catching some rays and straight chilling out with some good company. A mojito, or two, may or may not sneak itself into the equation.
What are your weekend plans?

PLACES WE LOVE: SABE RICO

It's a gorgeous day in Antigua; the sun is shining bright, the sky is an impeccable shade of powder blue and the clouds are like fluffy cotton-balls strategically placed as if it were a painting from your favorite artist. It almost feels like a crime to not take advantage of days like these and bask in all the gloriousness that is nature. Respectively, we decided it was the perfect occasion [excuse] to utilize this freely given gift the best way we could on a work day: an outdoor lunch. Naturally, it didn't take long for us to all quickly agree on one of our favorite spots in town. Sabe Rico.
What is there not to love about this place. It's ambience is second to none with a quaint outdoor setting full of lush trees, flowers, singing birds, and color seating. Anywhere that encourages you to relax and enjoy already has my vote but it's the fresh and delicious menu that keeps us all coming back for more. All 10 pages of it. Sabe Rico is actually Spanish for 'tastes good'... and tastes good it does! Whether you're in the mood for a sandwich and cerveza (which they took the liberty of matching for you), leafy greens, carb city, or a wine smoothie (kept the best for last), there is something for whatever your heart and stomach desires. I opted for a chicken sandwich, while my two vegetarians opted for a salad and pasta.
We talked clothes and boys (per usual) over lemon soda's and ice tea's and left feeling satisfied, fulfilled and rejuvenated. It's the simple things in life, right? Until the next time.

SPIN CLASSES

In continued effort of my 2014 bucket list, I had to honor my "find a work out I can't live without" goal and try out the spin class at the Antigua Gym. I've only taken a spin class at a yoga studio back home that combines 30 minutes of spin with 30 minutes of yoga. Although I didn't know what I had in store for me with an hour's work of it, I did know the basics. My tush was going to be very, I mean very, sore the next day. Oddly enough, this kind of excited me. You know the feeling of being sore and uncomfortable, but openly loving it because you know you just worked your butt off.
Annie and Maria decided to join me, as Annie had never taken any kind of spin class before. Boy, wasn't she in for a treat! We arrived about 25 minutes early to ensure we had bikes next to each other... and cause we're punctual weirdos like that. Our instructor walked in, and my mind and body prepared itself for what was about to come. Did I mention the class is in Spanish?  Annie and I, being limited in our español lingo, did the best we could, sneaking inconspicuous side peeks at Maria and following her lead every time the instructor yelled something out.
Tiesto was blasting on the speakers, and we had a flat screen TV in front of us playing his actual set in Copenhagen. I just imagined I was there amongst the crowd, fist pumping and dancing away, and before I knew it, we had 10 minutes left of class and the instructor had us jumping off our bikes to do squats and the running man. My legs were wobbling and I thought for sure I was going to timber in any given direction at any given moment. Needless to say I did not, and I was very thrilled I didn't publicly humiliate myself on day 1.
All in all, it was a great success! We've aligned our schedules and vow to go 3x per week [4-5x if we're feeling especially ambitious]. Oh and guess what, the tush-- not so bad today! Hopefully I'm not speaking too soon. Cheers all!

LIPS, LIPS, LIPS

We've all got them. They come in all shapes and sizes accentuated by different skin tones and face shapes. These lifetime accessories can be dressed up or dressed down depending on the mood, occasion, or personal style. Some like 'em bold, some like 'em au natural, while others favor somewhere in between. Whatever the case may be, there is a lipstick, lip gloss or plain ol' chapstick to enhance your boca and vibe. Unless it's Halloween and you're going as Elvira,  make sure to coordinate the rest of your face to complement your lip color of choice. Halloween is once a year, and that's for a reason.
Here are a few celebs rocking some of our favorite lip colors.

V-DAY FLARE

Love is in the air. Or maybe it’s not. Maybe it’s lust, 'friendship', or a rare yet exponentially growing case known as feb14 amnesia. We all have a love/hate relationship with this holiday... depending on our marital status. The bright side is, it's still an excuse to do something. Ie. force your significant other to spend an outrageous amount of dinero on jewels, receive and therefore eat obscene amounts of chocolate, sit alone in your apartment with a pint of Ben and Jer's watching romcoms, party hardy with your girls like it's 1999, or go to a mediocre dinner with your coworker that you just found out (through way of invite) has a crush on you. The power is in the hands of a woman this V-day season, per always. And that my friends, is the beauty of it all. The only hard part here is what to wear! So whether you’re single or attached, male or female, got a lunch date, dinner date or no date, you’re undoubtedly feeling the pressure that this hallmark holiday inevitably forces upon us. Whatever the case may be this year, throw that pressure and rulebook aside, 'cause we did the intensive labor work for you and put together some looks to help ease your nerves. Well except for the pint of Ben and Jer's gal. We figured you've got that covered.

Tell us in our Comments box below... What's your V-day dress flare?

MEET THE MODEL: ERIN BERCOVICI

Meet Erin. The naturally beautiful and down to earth model in our Dulce Vida Spring/Summer 2014 lookbook and video. Not to mention Jess' youngest sis. Good genes run in the family, right? Erin was a natural in front of the camera as anyone with half a working eye can tell. Her up-beat and positive energy helped bring life to what is the already charming and exquisiteness that comprises Antigua. Her goofy humor and klutzy ways were an added bonus and just for kicks, we played some top 40 tunes and asked her to drop it low. Read below to see what happened.

Full name and location: Erin Bercovici. Portland, OR.
What do you do, and why is it awesome? I am in my last semester at Lewis & Clark College.
How would you describe yourself in 3 adjectives? Goofy, energetic, and adventurous.
How would you describe your style in 3 adjectives? Simple, comfy, and fun.
What item can you not leave the house without? My Tide-to-go pen and my Sugar chap stick.
What’s the most awkward date you’ve ever been on? I once met a guy’s grandparents on the first date. They were really nice though.
Fill in the blank: In 2014, I’m going to…Graduate college and then go to the Dominican Republic!
Tell us about the Stela 9 SS 2014 shoot! What was the inspiration? What was your favorite bag? I had a blast with the shoot. Everyone was so helpful with the photography, the filming, the styling, and bringing me veggie burgers. The idea was to show a day in the life of a Stela 9 girl (me!) visiting Antigua. The city is beautiful, so there was a lot to shoot. I love the new painted bolsitas. They are amazing. I cannot wait to get mine in red.
What’s a typical Saturday night like for you? My typical Saturday night is usually going out for a few drinks with friends. When I am feeling lazy, my boyfriend and I will make some dinner and drinks and watch shows in bed. We are really into Boardwalk Empire right now.
What’s something you worked on recently that you’re super proud of? I just learned how to make stairs!
What’s your hidden talent? I am really good at trivia games.
Current favorite item in your closet? My Free People vegan leather jacket.
What is your style go-to? My Cheap-Monday jeans, a crop top, and my black boots.
What’s the best pick-up line you’ve ever used/have gotten? I am definitely not smooth enough to use a pick-up line. I snagged my boyfriend by awkwardly showing him YouTube videos when we were studying together.
What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you? Where do I begin? I trip and run into things all the time. One time I tried to drop it low and I couldn’t get back up.
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned about love? You can’t force it; you’ll know when it’s right.
What’s the best compliment you’ve ever been given? I was once told that I look like Venus from Botticelli’s Birth of Venus.  Being compared to a goddess is never bad.
What song always puts you in a good mood? "Bootylicious" by Destiny's Child. Beyoncé makes everything better.

MEET THE VIDEOGRAPHER : TIM SHEPHARD

Meet Tim. The magic and creative force behind the Meet The Makers video andDulce Vida Spring/Summer 2014 lookbook and video, When asked to do this interview, he quickly responded with “I'm never too busy to talk about myself!” I must say, my kind of interviewee. In addition to his work, what more to admire about this bloke than his undeniable sarcasm, genuine love for his wife, and willingness to flaunt a Weekender. But only if he were a touch more feminine, of course.

Full name and location: Tim Shephard, Living in San Francisco but born and raised in Sydney, Australia.
What do you do, and why is it cool? I make films and videos. I have the responsibility of doing justice to the beauty of a place, a person, a story or even a bag. It's such an immense thing to do to try to represent something in its best form. I love it.
How would you describe yourself in 3 adjectives? Sexy, virile, liar.
How would you describe your style in 3 adjectives? Shirtless, pantless, sock-based.
What item can you not leave the house without? My pooch, Lyla.
What’s the most awkward date you’ve ever been on? I took this girl out and she was nagging me the whole time about what I was eating, what I was wearing, so I said 'This is honestly the last time I take you to McDonalds Mum'.
Fill in the blank: In 2014, I’m going to... Jam creativity down your throat and push myself to get to the next level. To be honest I'm damn excited about it.
Tell us about the Stela 9 SS 2014 shoot! What was the inspiration? What was your favorite bag? We wanted to capture the free-spirit of Guatemala. I lived down there for about 9 months and have a deep love for the whole country. Stela 9 owner, Jess and I were just talking and brain-storming about what we love about Antigua, Guatemala and where we love. It was basically just an ode to how beautiful the place is and the people. The team is pretty incredible down there as well. Very open and welcoming. The model Erin was a babe and totally open to anything and was beyond cool to work with. It was easily the most fun I've had on a shoot. It was also easy to shoot because the bags and the environment go so well together. They're best friends. It's pretty amazing seeing traditional huipils repurposed into these beautiful bags. If I was more stylish and a little more feminine I would definitely rock one of those Weekenders.
Who or what inspires you? I get inspired by rad people doing rad things. I love seeing people take chances. It makes me want to take more chances.
What’s a typical Saturday night like for you? Drink until I try to get into my dog's crate. Then I know I've had enough.
What’s something you worked on recently that you’re super proud of? I loved working on the documentary, Meet The Makers,  for Stela 9. It was pretty amazing hearing the stories of the artisans and why they do what they do.
What’s the most awkward thing that’s happened to you while filming/shooting? I stopped caring about the weird, awkward stuff I do a while ago otherwise I'd be a mess.
What’s your hidden talent? I can play the clarinet like a badass.
Current favorite item in your closet? Chambray shirts 4 eva.
What is your style go-to? I just dress in whatever the Stela 9 team tell me to. But goddam do I love a pair of boots.
What’s the best pick-up line you’ve ever used/have gotten? I asked a girl to spoon with me once in Guatemala. I married her.
What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you? Are you nuts?!
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned about love? That for hundreds of years now philosophers, poets and writers with minds much smarter than mine have been able to define love and can barely conceptualize it. The most important thing I know about my love is that I give it to my wife Amy unconditionally and I will continue to do that with every force of my life until I no longer have the ability, or she leaves me for someone better.
What song always puts you in a good mood? 'Who let the dogs out'- then I imagine all those wacky dogs running around... ahhhh, so good!
